Wendy Barber, PhD

Dr. Wendy Barber is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in Oshawa, Canada. She recently won the UOIT Teaching Award of Excellence for 2014. She is a passionate advocate for Health and Physical Education. Her research interests lie in the areas of Teacher Development, Health Literacy, Physical Literacy, Mindfulness, Resilience and Wellbeing. In addition, she has published and presented papers internationally focused on Digital Learning Environments and Creating Authentic Online Communities.
Dr. Barber teaches in pre-service teacher education B.Ed., the M.Ed. graduate and the BA. ESDT undergraduate online program. Her graduate teaching and research lies in Authentic Assessment, Adult Education and Critical and Reflective Practice. Currently, Dr. Barber is a passionate advocate for inclusion, and is partnering with the internationally known Abilities Centre to promote fully accessible sport, physical education and recreation.
