Janet Symmons is a sessional facilitator at OntarioTechU’s Faculty of Education. Since 2002, Janet has facilitated and designed instruction at colleges and universities in Ontario and BC and worked as an instructional designer in the private sector. She holds an M.Ed. in teaching, learning, and development and a B.Ed. in adult education, both from Brock University. Janet is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at the University of Victoria. Her dissertation is a phenomenological study of university educators’ experiences with barriers to using, sharing, and creating open educational resources. Other research interests include barriers and affordances to educational technology, personal learning networks, and social connectedness in online learning environments.
